Barrington Municipal Exhibition

August 21 @ 10:00 am - August 24 @ 5:00 pm

$25

August 21st-24th 2025

Barrington’s first community fair was held August 26, 1952 on a field located at the former Goudey Theater and the old Fellow’s Hall. Initially, the fair was started as a way to promote farming and agriculture in the area.

Initially operated on land purchased for $300.00 in 1954 by a local resident, the Barrington Municipal Exhibition (as it was renamed) began and continues strongly to this day. Over time, the annual exhibition has grown to include ox hauls, horse shows, chip bingo, small animals, parades, children’s events, historical events, musical entertainment, crafts, and much more.

Community volunteers continue to run and organize the exhibition in the present day. Though farming and agriculture are no longer vital industries in the area, the Barrington Municipal Exhibition continues as a celebration of agriculture and community, bringing people together from all walks of life.

The Barrington Municipal Exhibition operates under the Nova Scotia Dept. of Agriculture and we are a proud member of the Exhibition Association of Nova Scotia. The ‘Municipal’ class designation in the title denotes that we are a small and unique Exhibition.

Entries of items to the Exhibition are accepted from all residents of Nova Scotia.

In 2015, we partnered with the Sou’ West 4H Club to help grow the next generation of agricultural and community minded individuals. These bright young folks are vital to the success of the Barrington Municipal Exhibition, both in the present and into the future.
